Once known as the “Harlem of the South,” downtown Richmond’s Jackson Ward neighborhood has been home to the US’s first female bank president, Maggie Lena Walker, Hollywood dancing legend, Bill “Bojangles” Robinson and Richmond’s very own 2nd Street Festival. Known as the birthplace of Black entrepreneurship, Jackson Ward’s history and successes continue to attract and cultivate creative enterprises and businesses while uplifting its surrounding community.

Today, Jackson Ward's resurgence and revitalization that can be seen throughout the streets in the beloved businesses and storefronts, new developments and upcoming projects and community organizations and initiatives like the Jackson Ward Collective, Historic Jackson Ward Association and The JXN Project.

Jackson Ward, once referred to as "Black Wall Street," has seen a resurgence of Black-owned businesses and opportunities for small business owners looking to share their success by investing back into their community.
